Did you know:

First Nations peoples over the age of 50 account for 18% of the First Nations population, yet only 2% of First Nations peoples are 50 years and over within the entire Australian population (Australasian Journal on Ageing - July 2023).

According to the latest population data (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Aged Care for Indigenous Australians - 2021), 51% of First Nations peoples over the age of 75 are living in residential aged care services with the remainder of this group using home care (36%) or home support (26%).

As a population group, the demand for aged care services is higher than in the non-Indigenous population.

To assist in building staff capability in the delivery of culturally safe care, an invitation is extended to CHSP providers to attend a series of two online workshops facilitated by Booroongendjugun College.

Target Audience:

All staff and volunteers working in aged care services including: in-home, team leaders, coordinators and field staff.
