Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Inclusive Employment Workshop

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Inclusive Employment Workshop

Wathaurong Booln Booln Cultural CentreGrovedale, VIC
Tuesday, Mar 17 from 9:30 am to 2 pm AEDT
Overview

A workshop for local businesses to help you develop more inclusive employment practices for First Nations Peoples.

Join us for a meaningful and collaborative workshop hosted by Wan-yaari Aboriginal Consultancy, focused on strengthening inclusive employment practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Barwon Region.

The day will begin with a Welcome to Country, followed by an introduction to the workshop’s purpose and structure.

Participants will engage in yarning circles – a culturally respectful and safe space to share experiences, challenges, and ideas around employment and workplace inclusion. These conversations will be guided by experienced facilitators and experts in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, who will help draw out key themes and practical insights.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • Common barriers to inclusive employment
  • Opportunities for culturally safe recruitment and retention
  • Actions businesses can take to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff

The workshop will conclude with a collective reflection and the development of three key takeaways for participants to implement in their organisations.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided by the Wathaurong Booln Booln Cultural Centre.
