Join our year-long workshops to grow food, cook delicious meals, and build community—hands-on learning from garden to kitchen!

This year-long series of hands-on workshops is designed to help participants grow food, cook delicious meals, and build community connections. Each session focuses on practical skills, seasonal activities, and sustainable living practices. From planning a productive garden to preserving harvests and learning kitchen crafts, participants will gain confidence and knowledge while enjoying a welcoming, collaborative environment.

  1. Growing Together: Planning & Preparing the Hive Garden
    7 Feb 2026 – Kick off the year with garden design, soil prep, composting, and planting seedlings.
  2. Seed to Feed: Starting Seeds & Propagating Plants
    7 Mar 2026 – Learn seed sowing, cuttings, and propagation techniques. Take home plants and seeds.
  3. Compost in Action: Building Healthy Soil
    4 Apr 2026 – Build a compost heap, explore worm farming and bokashi systems for nutrient cycling.
  4. Harvest & Store: Intro to Lacto-Fermentation & Pickling
    2 May 2026 – Harvest together and learn brining and vinegar pickling for seasonal produce.
  5. Winter in the Kitchen: Say Cheese!
    6 Jun 2026 – Make quick cheeses like ricotta, paneer, and mozzarella, flavored with garden herbs.
  6. Winter in the Kitchen: Sourdough Baking 101
    4 Jul 2026 – Learn sourdough basics from starter care to baking a perfect loaf.
  7. Winter in the Kitchen: Gluten-Free Bread Making
    1 Aug 2026 – Master two gluten-free bread styles and flour blends for delicious results.
  8. Spring into Action: Building Wicking Beds
    5 Sep 2026 – Construct water-wise wicking beds for dry climates.
  9. Spring into Action #2: Companion Planting & Summer Veg
    3 Oct 2026 – Plant seasonal veggies and herbs, learn soil health and companion planting.
  10. Spring into Action #3: Seed Saving Workshop
    14 Nov 2026 – Collect, clean, and store seeds to preserve heirloom varieties and strengthen local food systems.
  11. Design Your Own Permaculture Garden & Harvest Celebration
    5 Dec 2026 – Plan your home garden using permaculture principles and share a harvest meal together.
