A visit to the lighthouse tender vessel MV Cape Don

Coal LoaderWaverton, NSW
Sunday, Mar 8, 2026 from 10 am to 11:30 am AEDT
Overview

All aboard as we tour this wonderful museum ship.

The MV Cape Don is a retired lighthouse tender vessel.

She was built in the early 1960s in Newcastle NSW, and now serves as a museum ship.

For some time, she's been moored at the historic Coal Loader at Balls Head Reserve.

This will be an opportunity to explore her from the Captain's quarters down into the engine room.

Our guide will be an expert from the Sea Heritage Foundation..

There's plenty of street parking and it's a pleasant stroll from Waverton Station. There's also a bus stop nearby if you prefer.

Note: the date is tentative at the moment. Once it's confirmed, we'll send out an email to our members and friends.

For enquiries contact Matt Stone on 0413 77 4926 or matt@twentieth.org.au
