A Collage is a Spell: For 2026
Discover your own unique collaging style and create artistic treasures to guide your path through 2026.
In this workshop, Jasmine will guide you through collaging practices to create your vision for 2026. You will learn exploratory exercises that challenge taken-for-granted assumptions about collage, encouraging you to cultivate your own unique collaging style.
You will be supported to explore the feelings, sensations, and experiences you wish for in 2026, translating these into personal artistic treasures that can guide your path throughout the year.
Suitable for those with any level of collaging experience, including complete beginners (no collaging experience needed).

Workshop inclusions:
- A range of source materials that allow your unique style and vision to emerge
- A4, A5, large card, and small card backing papers for collage works in a range of sizes
- A reflective worksheet to support your vision for 2026
- A take-home info sheet with exercises, tips, and further resources to explore
- A small packet to carry your spare cut-outs and continue your collaging practice
- Light snacks and drinks provided
Workshop accessibility
- Small and extra-small scissors will be available in this workshop. If you require large scissors for accessibility purposes, please notify me at least 5 business days in advance so that I can support your needs.
- ·We will be using non-toxic, solvent free glue in this workshop (UHU glue stick). If you require an alternative glue, please notify me at least 5 business days in advance so that I can support your needs.
- Our equipment and materials are generally safe and gentle. If you would like to use any of your own personal protective equipment, you are encouraged to do so.

Important accessibility details are as follows.
Parking
- The closest accessible public parking bay is located on Albert Street at the Frith Street T-intersection. There is a single, untimed accessible parking bay at this location. This bay is approximately 98 metres from Shell Space.
- General public parking is available on McIver Street, Frith Street, Frith Street carpark, Albert Street, Lobb Street, Victoria Street and other nearby streets. Please observe parking signs to ensure your parking allows enough time for your workshop.
Wheelchair and mobility aid access
- The main space is wheelchair accessible (flat concrete floor with door and walkway clearance).
- The toilet is separated from the main space by two steps. The toilet is not wheelchair accessible.
Building and event space
- Shell Space is a small warehouse building. It is divided into four sections: Workshop space, lounge space, ceramic storage and firing space, and staff-only storage space.
- The floor of the main space (excepting toilet separated by steps) is flat painted concrete.
Furniture
- The workshop tables are plywood work benches with a height of 81cm.
- Workshop seating is a metal stool (46cm height) with a cushioned seat pad. Stools do not have back support. If you require seating with back support, please let me know at least five business days in advance so that I can support your needs.
Temperature
- The space can be quite warm in summer and quite cold in winter. Although there is heating and cooling in the space, events may need to be postponed or cancelled in the case of extreme temperatures. If this is necessary, you will be notified in advance and offered a refund or credit for a future workshop.
- We advise wearing layered clothing that can be added or removed as needed.
Lighting
- During workshops, the space is gently lit with multiple soft, warm-toned lamps.
- During workshops, the workshop table space is gently lit with three soft, warm-toned overhead lights that hang above the table. The table space may include additional lighting via unscented candles.
- During daylight hours, the space receives natural outdoor light via skylights and west-facing textured glass windows.
- At sunset, direct sunlight can shine through the west-facing textured glass windows. This can be softened with sheer curtains if needed.
- If required for visibility, additional lamps can be available and positioned as needed.
Noise
- Shell space is situated on a mixed residential and commercial street. During weekend workshop hours, there is generally little to no disruptive noise from outdoors.
- Rain on the metal roof can cause mild to severe noise. In heavy rain conditions, noise can be very loud and disruptive. Events may need to be postponed or cancelled in the case of heavy rain forecast. If this is necessary, you will be notified in advance and offered a refund or credit for a future workshop.
- The space is equipped with treatments, furnishings, and décor that soften noise, so echo is minimal.
Sensory and social needs
- Throughout workshops, the lounge space is available to anyone who requires a comfortable place to take a break from workshop or social activities.
- Throughout workshops, the small outdoor foyer area can be made available to anyone who requires an outdoor break.
Assistance animals
- In accordance with Victorian law, assistance animals are welcome at workshops.
- If you require any particular facilities or accommodations for your assistance animal, please notify me as soon as possible so that I can support your companion’s needs.
