Creative Computing for Seniors workshop (using "Scratch")

Thomas McCoy is an experienced science communicator and graduate of the 2018 ANU/Questacon Science Circus. He has been running engaging "Scratch" sessions for seniors since then.

If you're over 55 and inspired by creativity (and can use a computer keyboard and mouse) then this free workshop is for you!

CIT Tuggeranong

In a relaxed setting we'll learn how to get started with "<a href="https://scratch.mit.edu/" title="https://scratch.mit.edu/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Scratch</a>", an incredible self-expression system that's used by more than 100 million men and women worldwide and lets them produce amazing, colourful, musical, moving creations just by fitting multi-coloured blocks together with the mouse. These creations may then be shared among a vast community of users, or just with family and friends, and can include interactive stories, games, animations, and lots more.It's simple to use, costs nothing, and can be way more fun than crosswords or sudoku in helping to keep the brain young. It could also be the start of forming a local "Scratch community" and meeting new people.Come and join us for this stimulating and enjoyable Science Week event!Please note that this event will include lunch and refreshments and is also available on <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/957232116027" title="https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/957232116027">August 10</a>.But registrations are essential.This Inspiring Australia initiative is supported by the Australian Government as part of <a href="https://www.scienceweek.net.au/your-state/act/" title="https://www.scienceweek.net.au/your-state/act/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">National Science Week</a>.

This is the front of the CIT Tuggeranong facility within the Tuggeranong Innovation Centre and there is plenty of free weekend parking available nearby.
