Kids' Weekend Workshop: Cyanotype printing with Elisa Jane Carmichael

Children aged 7-12 can join artist Elisa Jane Carmichael to make their own cyanotype print.

Gallery of Modern Art

Children will use drawing and natural materials to create a composition on specially treated cyanotype fabric, and then observe their work transform through exposure to sunlight and water. Participants will leave the workshop with new art-making skills and their own print to take home.While the cyanotypes are being exposed, the artist will also share a simple weaving technique with children.Supervision by a parent or guardian is required. Ticket holders will receive a voucher for 10% off a purchase at the GOMA Bistro on workshop dates. About the artistNgugi artist Elisa Jane Carmichael is the first exhibiting artist in the <a href="https://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au/exhibition/art-box" title="https://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au/exhibition/art-box" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Art Box for Kids</a> exhibition series at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). She uses cyanotype printing to explore themes related to the natural world and her family’s connection to the land.
