This workshop will provide an introduction to the technologies of next-generation sequencing and a hands-on introduction to NGS analysis using the Galaxy platform. Topics covered will include:•	A brief history of DNA sequencing technologies •	An introduction to next-generation sequencing providers and how their technology works •	Understanding common bioinformatics workflows and standardised file types •	Practical exercises on sequence data quality control FAQsWhat should I bring into the event?A laptop with wireless internet access (ideally configured for the Eduroam network)What prior experience do I need?None - the workshop gives a full introduction to both next-generation sequencing technologies and the Galaxy bioinformatics platformWho should attend?The workshop is designed for biologists, other life scientists, and computer scientists planning to work with next-generation sequencing dataHow can I contact the organiser with any questions?You can email training@qcif.edu.auWhat&#x27;s the refund policy?Refunds can be obtained up to 7 days before the event.
