Digital celebrity Eva Collé left their conservative hometown in Italy at 17 in search of freedom, winding up an eternal subletter in Berlin like so many pseudo vagabonds before them. Broadcasting virtually all aspects of their life online, Collé quickly built an audience captivated by their honest approach to their body, sex work, and drug use. To Collé’s .Tumblr and Instagram followers, their unconventional life is like an inspiring film – one which has more plot strands and climaxes than any daily soap opera. An auto-biographical collaboration partially funded by Vice, Searching Eva sees Pia Hellenthal and Collé probing the distinction between persona and performance.
