• when: 9.30am-1.30pm Wednesday July 10th
• where: Flinders University, City Campus
• why: to give you close-up opportunities and hands-on experiences in different areas of AI, Cybersecurity, Mixed Reality, Software Engineering, so that you can make the right decision regarding your future studies and career
• what: participate in these workshops:
- AI & Games: Popular board games such as Chess, Backgammon and Go have long been used as a way of comparing the intelligence of machines against that of humans. This introductory workshop will cover the applications of Artificial Intelligence for games, with an interactive demonstration of intelligent player behaviour. We will also explore the ways in which AI can be used to help design and test brand new games.
- Cybersecurity: Open source intelligence (OSINT) is the analysis of information that is public or otherwise legally accessible, which makes it a powerful tool used by digital forensics experts and hackers alike. In this hands-on cyber workshop, students will don their detective hats and critically examine public internet sources to gather information and learn just how openly available our data can be.
- Mixed Reality: The recent success of commercial head mounted 3D displays, such as Meta Oculus Quest or Apple Vision Pro, enable Mixed Reality applications for the consumer market. This workshop will introduce Mixed Reality to students with a focus of demonstrations of photo-realistic 360-degree Virtual Reality.
- Software Engineering: Software engineering is the iterative, collaborative design, development, and testing of software systems. Modern software engineers are developing systems with a strong user centred design philosophy where the user experience is key to their app’s success. For this workshop you will explore the principles of software engineering, UX Design, and the importance of understanding who your user is. You will apply these principles to the prototyping and evaluation of a software application intended for mobile devices.
