EASY RIDERS: MOVEMENT WORKSHOP 2

APHIDS is an artist-led experimental art organisation based in Naarm/Melbourne. Collaborative, risk-taking and future focused, APHIDS is led by Lara Thoms and Mish Grigor.APHIDS makes experimental work across artforms and contexts: in public space, festivals, digital platforms, across visual and performing arts, major institutions and beyond. APHIDS have been presented in every state and territory in Australia, from the Malthouse Theatre to the Art Gallery of SA. We have engaged audiences in samurai hotels in Japan, churches in Finland, community halls in regional towns, drive-ins and even beamed art into outer space.APHIDS includes the triad of Amrita Hepi, Amaara Raheem, and Sammaneh Pourshafighi, through a peer-based approach to art-making, knowledge sharing and cross disciplinary exchange from diverse viewpoints.

Aphids

Easy Riders is a major new performance work by artist Eugenia Lim and APHIDS, in collaboration with members of your friendly local network of gig workers. Easy Riders will premiere in late 2020, but you can get a sneak peek at the creative process this December when the Easy Riders team is in-residence at MPavilion, hosting a series of public events designed to get you thinking and moving on the subject of work in the digital age.
Eugenia Lim and the Easy Riders team will be onsite reading, talking and dancing through their ideas about the relationships between art, the gig economy and our bodies. Curious? You can get involved in two free movement workshops facilitated by choreographer Natalie Cursio on Wednesday 4 and Friday 6 December, 12–1pm. Free, bookings required. Wear comfy clothes and BYO water bottle. No prior dance training required, but let us know of any injuries or restrictions at the start of the workshop.
