The University of Newcastle is proud to be a partner with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) – an organisation which runs a growing global network of international training centres, known as CIFAL, around the world.CIFAL Newcastle, the only CIFAL centre in Australia and Asia Pacific is based at the University of Newcastle. The CIFAL Global Network’s mission is to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and address global challenges, such as the eradication of poverty and hunger, gender equality, environmental sustainability and risk reduction of natural disasters.Our University is committed to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To mark United Nations Day and to celebrate the start of a new chapter with the University of Newcastle, CIFAL Newcastle is hosting a series of events and presentations at Ourimbah and Callaghan campus for all students and staff.Tuesday 22 October – Ourimbah Campus11am - 2pm, Main Quad, Ourimbah CampusLet&#x27;s celebrate - join us for a free BBQ lunch with interactive games, activities, prizes and CIFAL expo in the Main Quad.Come and hear more about our new range of United Nations certified CIFAL electives open for enrolment from 2020. 12pm - 1230, Presentation - Global impact starts with you - an introduction to Sustainable Development Goals LT102, Ourimbah Campus Keen to find out more about CIFAL? We&#x27;re hosting a short presentation on who we are, what we do and how we can help you. Our presentation will include an introduction to the United Nation&#x27;s Sustainable Development Goals - what they are and why global impact starts with you. 1245 - 1330, Biodiversity Walk on Ourimbah campus with UON Environment team. (Meet at IRC Building - Library). This is a great opportunity to learn more about the University’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal #15 – Life on Land which seeks to halt biodiversity loss. Please remember to bring closed shoes, sun protection, sunscreen and insect repellent. All events are open to ALL students and staff. Due to limited seating and limited catering, registration is essential via the registration link. The CIFAL Newcastle team is looking forward to meeting you and celebrating the start of a brand new chapter.TIP - When you press register, you have the option to register for ONE or all of the series of events.
