JOIN USCelebrate the culmination of Dian's time with artisan on Thursday 19 October. Dian will be holding an open studio from 10 am and share how she has spent her time with us in an intimate talk in the gallery from 6 to 8 pm. "Dian comes from one of the most exciting and vibrant art scenes in the Southern Hemisphere. This is your opportunity to connect and find out more about her work and homeland." - CASSANDRA LEHMAN, CREATIVE CO-DIRECTORDIAN SUCI - ARTIST IN RESIDENCEMultidisciplinary artist Dian Suci is completing her artist in residency program with artisan this month. Hailing from Indonesia, Dian creates her own paint pigments from plants she forages. During her stay, she has applied her processes, eagerly learning from local craftspeople who share her passion - particularly those with knowledge of native Australian plants and minerals. DEBRA PORCH AWARDartisan are hosting the Debra Porch Award being offered by The Australia Council. Debra Porch was a friend and former exhibitor of artisan, and we are deeply honoured to be helping facilitate her legacy of practice-based inquiry. Debra Porch’s practice focused on memory, mortality and the relationship between presence and absence. Working and teaching during art residencies in our neighbourhood regions became vital to her art, work and life.  In honour of Debra Porch’s life’s work, this award will support the artists, and will stimulate strong connections and build long-term engagement. The residency will introduce the artists to the local sector and assist with research and network building with relevant communities. The artists will also have the option to share an artist talk or participate in a public program at the end of the residency period. Artisan is a not-for-profit organisation. All ticket sales go directly to the artists, collaborators and events. THE DEBRA PORCH AWARD is proudly supported by Creative Australia.Thank you to artisan's supporters and sponsors who make our events possible.
