Wadjar Regional Indigenous Gallery is a hub of First Nations Culture and Art from the Mid North Coast of NSW.Situated in the pristine coastal bushlands of the Northern Lowlands of Gumbaynggirr Nation, Yarrawarra represents a range of talented  Indigenous Artists who share their skills and knowledge with the public through our  Cultural Events, School Holiday Activities, Art and Craft Worksops and our Bush Medicine and Historical Site Tours.At Yarrawarra we love nothing more than bringing people together to celebrate and share the Art, Culture, History and Values of Gumbaynggirr People."Yarrawarra means Happy Meeting Place in Gumbaynggirr Language, and you can really feel it when you come out here under the big gum trees. Did you know that Corindi Beach is named after the clay found in Pipeclay lake?In fact, it was in 1950&#x27;s that the name of this town was changed from &quot;Pipeclay&quot; to &quot;Corindi&quot;Corindi is a word that comes from the Gumbaynggirr name of this area, which was Girrin-da&#x27;Girrin&#x27; is the original name of the clay in the tidal lake between the road and the beach, and a place where Gumbaynggir People lived when all of the old places we used to live were given away for farming in early colonial settlement. The name &quot;Girrin&quot; means &#x27;Grey-Haired&#x27; and the clay was later named Pipeclay by local settlers. Girrin-DA means the place where the pipeclay is, and a lot of local place names reflect a resource that was abundant in that areaWe invite you to the opening of All Fired Up!
