OZI BLUES WOMEN MC BRONNIE GORDON+SALTY DOG+ KALIOPI & THE BLUES MESSENGERS

Each event will feature one of Australia's national blues treasures with three eclectic blues sets. Starting with our feature artist openning taking us through a journey of solo storytelling followed by a second set to unearth a new vintage blues support act through to the final collaborative set where our feature guest artist will lead our seasoned host band directing a world-class session jam in the traditional spirit of the blues. Our host band Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers officially launched at the Glenmaggie Blues & Roots Festival early in 2022, for a vibrant debut soon after Kaliopi was invited to headline Stingo's Blues Jam. Drawing from the great delta blues tradition of powerful blueswomen who made it their own and bluesmen strong enough to love, Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers have just released their debut single 'When the Levee Breaks' with raving reviews, national airplay, and support as they roll out their second original single 'Troublin Blues' from their debut studio album.Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers have honed in on the works of Memphis Minnie as a fundamental mentor and the line of powerful blues women since pre-WW. They have developed their unique neo jug blues texture stylising a fretless bass from the sousaphone with added flavours of early Dixieland piano, weaving clarinet blues licks, and Delta Blues guitar over swinging groove shuffles topped with Kaliopi's powerfully soulful vocals. In 2022, Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers have gone on to support some of our country's national blues icons such as Geoff Achison, Ian Collard, and Jimi Hocking as well as performing regularly in the Blues Circuit around Melbourne.
