She is the curator of HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures 2023. Kath is interested in the shifting ways that our senses are entangled with our material and immaterial surroundings, specifically how site-responsive practices engage with diverse histories to open up new perspectives, relationships and understandings. Underpinned by mindfulness and meditation practices, her work and practice are embedded in Buddhist philosophies of impermanence, interconnection, and compassion. Recently Kath co-curated ‘Presence of Mind’ at Gallery Lane Cove, featuring works by Buddhist contemporary artists from Australia and Singapore. Kath has been involved in Rainbodhi events since 2018 and really values being part of this diverse Buddhist queer community.@kathfries_curator kathfries.com Cittamaya (They/Them) is travelling the Buddha’s Path and is ordained with the Triratna Sangha, Sydney Buddhist Centre, on Gadigal Land. They are particularly inspired by Metta and Sangha - the power of coming together in ways which support us to become more aware of our deep interconnection. Cittamaya is full of gratitude for the individuals and communities which supported them to find themselves through practice as a Non-Gendered Being. They are excited to be part of Rainbodhi’s creation of shared spaces to explore Queer Being in welcoming communities, inclusive spaces for us all to be, belong and go beyond.sydneybuddhistcentre.org.auJayanto Tan (He/Him) is a visual artist who was born and raised in a small village in North Sumatra, Indonesia to a Sumatran Christian mother and Guandong, China Taoist father. As an immigrant queer artist living in the Gadigal and Wangal Country in Sydney’s Inner West, who fled poverty and political repression in search of a better life, his practice blends Eastern and Western mythologies with the reality of current events. He draws on the identity politics of his diaspora to express personal experiences of ‘otherness’ through found object, ceramic sculpture, authentic food, installation and performance. His practice shares autobiographical experiences of loss, displacement and hope, offering a sentiment of mixed spirituality and sharing demonstrates a diverse culture bringing the timeless wisdom of meditation to a contemporary world.@jayanto_art jayantodamaniktan.com-Image Credit: Eduardo Wolfe-Allegria, Opening Ceremony (2022) Wood, plywood, plaster, polymer, polyurethane, fabric, acrylic paint, resin, epoxy, aluminium, steel and faux fur.Photo from the 2022 Rainbodhi tour of HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures (18/09/22).
