The Centre for Projection Art (formerly Gertrude Projection Association) is an independent, not for profit, community arts organisation dedicated to exhibiting contemporary new media art. Since 2008, it has produced outdoor site-specific projection art events that exhibit professional, emerging and community artists.The Centre for Projection Art aims:• to produce and exhibit media art projects;• to encourage, develop, and mentor local and community artists;• to present free outdoor art experiences;• to support the culture and community services of Gertrude Street;• to share all that with other communities.

GSPF Confluence, returns for it's 15th year along Gertrude St. Nightly projections are enriched by our public program of events

Join us at the Opening Party of our flagship festival at Collingwood Yards to celebrate this gathering of community with a music program curated by E.merge agency. Open to all ages and free to attend we welcome everyone to celebrate the 15th year of our annual festival.A trailblazing new &quot;Australian” booking agency emerging out of the program supported by Yarra Youth Services we have an impressive line up of music curated by E.merge agency who come together through a love of music and their diaspora communities, to lift up young artists. Though all different, when E.merge are together something beautiful happens, generating a third space facilitated by the young people that make up the agency. Existing within many intersections, learning and collaborating on a new culture born from their passions, knowledge and movement, the founders of this new youth talent agency, e.merge, are thrilled to curate the music for GSPF opening: Local artists, Global sounds.We will begin the festivities with a warm Welcome to Country from the Wurundjeri Council, honouring the custodians of the land, which will be Auslan interpreted as Fire pits keep us warm while Indulging your taste buds with delicious Cameroonian West African soul food provided by Vola Foods. Enjoy an exclusive beverage crafted by Long Prawn for GSPF 2023, adding a unique flavour to the evening!As night falls after the opening event, you can join the Artists for a walk up to Gertrude Street to celebrate and experience the premiere of their Artworks on site taking over the civic spaces of the street for 12 days.Please RSVP for this free event and join us for a memorable night of Art, music, food, and community and help us launch the festival!This event and GSPF2023 is supported by the City of Yarra, Yarra Youth Services, Australian Catholic University, Collingwood Yards and E.merge.
