Question 1

Why do I need to register for a free service?

The Anzac Day ceremonies are well attended commemorative ceremonies where parking and road closures in and around the Australian War Memorial are restricted on the day. Transport Canberra, together with the Australian War Memorial will provide free bus services to assist in reducing these pressures.

Does registering to ride guarantee me a seat on the bus?

Accepted Answer

By registering to ride passengers are selecting to ride with Transport Canberra buses to the Anzac Day Dawn Service and Veterans’ March. This includes both seated and standing positions on the bus.

Question 3

Is register to ride only for the Anzac Day Dawn Service?

Accepted Answer

No. If passengers are attending either the Dawn Service or Veterans’ March, they will need to register to ride. If passengers are going to both ceremonies, they will need to register separately.

Question 4

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Accepted Answer

On the day, passengers will need to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to departure and present their printed or electronic ticket to Transport Canberra staff at the selected event pick up location.

Are tickets to the event unlimited?

Accepted Answer

Bus services to the Anzac Day Dawn Service and Veterans’ March are limited. Registering to ride will be available from Tuesday, 11 April 2023, at which time passengers are strongly encouraged to register to ride to the event.

When is the best arrival time?

Accepted Answer

NOTE: Buses will depart at the advertised time. Passengers are advised to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to departure to ensure that boarding is complete. Tickets are not transferrable for other locations/times.

Question 7

Is there a limit on how many tickets an individual can register to ride to either service?

Accepted Answer

Passengers are able to register to ride for up to 5 tickets in any single registration for either ceremony.

Question 8

What if I don’t have access to the internet to register?

Accepted Answer

Contact 13 17 10 and you will be registered over the phone. At the time of booking you will need to confirm your registration to attend the events and the Australian War Memorial.  A copy of the ticket/s will be sent to your nominated mailing address.

Question 9

What if I arrive on the day without registering for the bus services?

Accepted Answer

Transport Canberra cannot guarantee that there will be available space to board the bus if passengers have not registered to use the free service. If there is no room to board passengers will need to make alternative arrangements. We strongly recommend booking early.
