National Gallery of AustraliaParkes, ACT
Tuesday, Feb 24 from 2 pm to 3 pm AEDT
Overview

Join our journey into After the Rain. A surprising and unique experience featuring celebrated Indigenous artists' most groundbreaking work.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Experience the 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain. Join a group of peers, socialise and feel included. Our peer facilitators will be there to support making new connections with peers, and to support access to the artwork and the gallery environment.

After the Rain is the first Indigenous Art Triennial to be curated by an artist. Tony Albert, the curator, has brought together some of the most unique work of highly celebrated indigenous artists to share stories which he says range from "absolute optimism and positivity" to acknolegement of rain's potential for "flood, devestation and chaos." The exhibit features themes from Artist Dylan Mooney (30) who has a sensory disability and is part of the LGBTQIA+ community. In an interview with The Guardian, Dylan says- “I would like to pass on what I’ve learned to emerging gay Blak artists coming up so a younger generation continue that into the future,” Dylan's work is bright and colourful. So join us for a peer-facilitated visit of this immersive and surprising exhibition.

Please arrive at the NGA's main, ground floor entry 10 minutes ahead of time (1.50 pm) so we can start the tour on time at 2.00pm. Our community facilitators Remi, Kyla will be there to meet you.
