Join us for a panel discussion and workshop presented by Leah Heiss and Monash Design Health Collab.<h1>Panel Discussion 10am - 12pm</h1>The panel brings together experts from across Victoria’s Mental Health system to discuss the role of co-design processes in enabling the input of multiple stakeholders in the creation of new systems, services and spaces.<h2>Chair</h2>Associate Professor Leah Heiss, Eva and Marc Besen International Research Chair in Design, Design Health Collab, Monash University and Chair of the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards. Leah Heiss is committed to the role of design in improving the lived experience of technologies, systems and services. Her Tactile Tools co-design method has been used to evolve new systems of care for low birth weight, cancer care, eating disorders, aged care, voluntary assisted dying and acquired brain injury. She is currently working with the World Health Organisation, using design strategies to improve the uptake and implementation of WHO guidelines.<h2>Speakers:</h2>Associate Professor Shalini Arunogiri, Hamilton Centre, Turning Point, Monash UniversityShalini Arunogiri is Clinical Director for the new Victorian Statewide Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the Hamilton Centre, based at Turning Point. She is an addiction psychiatrist and researcher and Associate Professor and NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow at Monash University&#x27;s Addiction Research Centre, with over 50 publications and $14M in funding to date, focusing on treatment innovation, trauma, PTSD and addiction.Cate O’Kane, Alfred Health Cate O&#x27;Kane is a skilled health project manager and planner with a passion for delivering person-centred healthcare solutions. She has a wealth of experience working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver innovative healthcare solutions. Her expertise in project management, codesign and stakeholder engagement has been applied to a range of healthcare projects from the Victorian Voluntary Assisted Dying Model of Care, to her current role, project managing a new service designed to treat adults with eating disorders. Cate&#x27;s dedication to person-centred care ensures that patients are always at the heart of the solutions she delivers. Her expertise in delivering projects with a strong codesign methodology, ensures that all stakeholders are engaged in the process and that the solutions developed are tailored to their needs.Jo Rasmussen, Mental Health AdvocateJo Rasmussen is a national award-winning mental health advocate. Jo’s most recent role was the Lived Experience Strategic Integration Consultant at Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH). Jo is also a mental health consumer representative at the local, state and national level, and has been involved in projects such as the development of Head to Health, a Commonwealth Department of Health initiative. Alistair Bonsey, Murray Primary Healthcare Network (PHN)Alistair Bonsey is a UK trained social worker, currently working for the Victoria and Tasmania PHN Alliance with a mental health focus. He comes from a rights-based perspective and brings a drive for social justice.Leander Kreltszheim, Social Designer / PhD CandidateLeander Kreltszheim is a social designer with over 20 years’ experience working in the not-for-profit and higher education sectors. She is passionate about transforming current service systems to better address the needs of those who experience low mental wellbeing in connection with homelessness, domestic violence, educational disengagement, social exclusion and more. She is currently completing her PhD at Monash University, researching how we might develop new design mindsets and methods to better enable young people safely and effectively engage in the design of new health systems. Ethics, relationships and care are at the heart of her practice.<h1>Workshop 2 - 4pm</h1>This participatory co-design workshop invites participants to speculate with others on mental health futures across Victoria, and how we all might support the most vulnerable in our community to ensure equitable mental healthcare for all. Facilitated by Dr Troy McGee and Associate Professor Leah Heiss from the Monash University Design Health Collab.<h2>Facilitators</h2>Dr Troy McGee, Lecturer at Monash University Troy McGee is currently a Lecturer at Monash University, and is equal parts designer, researcher and educator. Through his research with Monash Design Health Collab, Troy conducts collaborative and interdisciplinary research at the intersection of design, technology and care: with outcomes that span the speculative to the commercial. Troy is motivated by coalescing communities of practice working to address complex challenges in healthcare.Associate Professor Leah Heiss, Eva and Marc Besen International Research Chair in Design, Design Health Collab, Monash University and Chair of the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards.
