The Australian Breastfeeding Association was founded in 1964 by six Melbourne mothers as the Nursing Mothers' Association, with the aim of helping and supporting other mothers to breastfeed. This mother-to-mother support continues today. The Association has more than 1,100 volunteers made up of breastfeeding counsellors, who are mothers who have breastfed their own children and have completed a Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling), and community educators who have completed the Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education.

Come along, bring your breastfeeding questions and enjoy a chat and a cuppa.We welcome everyone - mothers, partners, caregivers, children, pregnant women, family members and helpers. You do not have to be breastfeeding to attend. We know that babies can be unpredictable, so feel free to arrive and leave whenever you need to.Our meetings are relaxed and casual, whatever stage or phase of your breastfeeding journey we would love you to come along and connect with the group however that might feel comfortable to you.If you need assistance to join our meeting please let us know how we can facilitate that for you.Breastfeeding can provide immunity against a range of illnesses, but if you or your child/ren have signs of illness please stay at home untill you are recovered.
