Kaspar Schmidt Mumm with John Davis &amp; Evelyn Roth, The Quirkestra, and Zemzemeh زمزمهCurated by Kaspar Schmidt Mumm, Pressurised Whisper Orchestra is an event involving two visual artists – John Davis and Evelyn Roth – and two music collectives – The Quirkestra and Zemzemeh زمزمه. Combined, the event will traverse illustration, orchestral jams, whispered bellows of sound and vibrant inflatable sculptures.Offbeat is a series of live events curated by local contemporary artists who share an interest in performance, community, music, comedy and dance. Presented across the year in ACE’s front room, each artist-as-curator brings their own model for engaging with liveness and togetherness. <h3>About the artists</h3>Kaspar Schmidt Mumm was born in Göttingen, Germany, in 1990. His father is German with Colombian upbringing. His mother is an immigrant to Canada from Pakistan/India. Kaspar lived in Hannover for the first ten years of his life, attending German Grundschule. In 2000, his family immigrated to South Australia. They have lived in Adelaide for the past twenty years. Kaspar’s mother, an artist, uses art for rehabilitation in hospitals and community centres. It is her ability to engage in extremely complex human relationships that has informed Kaspar&#x27;s own socially-engaged practice. Schmidt Mumm recently participated in Sauerbier House’s Culture Exchange, resulting in the exhibition Wiping Vatman’s Tears (2022). Other selected exhibitions include The Multiverse, Bundoora Homestead, Melbourne, 2021; and IMMI, Seventh Gallery, Melbourne, 2019. In 2018 he received The Advertiser Contemporary Art Award for the most outstanding contemporary work in any medium as part of the South Australian Living Artist (SALA) Festival.In addition to his individual practice, Kaspar is one of the founders of art collective The Bait Fridge pty ltd and lead vocalist of Slowmango. Both groups create boundary pushing live shows and immersive experiences in which hyper-colourful costumes, spontaneous performance and musical explorations collide into an entrancing experience of visual, sonic and social evolution - blurring the borders between music and art.John Davis &amp; Evelyn Roth: Evelyn is a self taught community artist, specialising in environmentally sensitive events, family festivals, school programs and art gallery exhibits. Evelyn is based at the beautiful coastal town of Maslin Beach. Evelyn creates large scale inflatable sculptures which John Davis creates drawings of. The Quirkestra are a fun and experimental instrumental music program which incorporates ensemble music playing, music theory and performance. Lead by Matthew Morison, the ensemble is housed at Tutti Arts.Zemzemeh زمزمه is a Persian word meaning “to whisper”. We are a newly formed Adelaide trio weaving together traditional music from Persia with contemporary influences and creative improvisation!Iranian born multi-instrumentalist Maryam Rahmani leads the band with her emotive and complex intricacies on the 72-stringed Santur, accompanied by Irish born Caoimhe Collins providing an expressive foundation of powerful cello layers supported by the dynamic hands of Australian drummer and percussionist Alexander Flood.
