This Drawing-based Urban Sketching Workshop will focus on Composition & Perspective for en plein air artists by the wonderful Alan Innes

The character-filled streets of Paddington provide artists with a vast array of subjects to draw, paint and photograph. Snapshot Storytelling loves nothing more than to showcase artists who find our workers cottages and historical buildings inspiring!

As part of the PADDINGTON URBAN ART EXHIBITION, Alan will be running two drawing-based urban sketching workshops. Each 2.5hr workshop will consist of a 30 min slideshow/discussion about COMPOSITION followed by a 2 hr outdoor sketch with a focus on perspective for urban sketchers. Alan will be happy to stay and talk over coffee for those who wish to continue discussions.MATERIALSAlan will supply• A3 cartridge paper and bleedproof paper, A3 foamcore backing boards, folding clips, etc.• A supply of pens, pencils and markers of all shapes and sizes for people to try.Attendees to bring• Normal drawing tools: A small range of pens, pencils, markers, rubbers etc.• Bring your own sketch pads if you wish.• Your normal outdoor sketching kit including a folding stool and other stuff.ALAN INNES BACKGROUNDAlan has a 50 year design background in architecture, urban design, landscape architecture and graphics. His art output consists primarily of sketches and hybrid drawings [digitally edited and assembled drawings] which depict Brisbane and Ipswich street views including many heritage listed buildings. Alan has been a member of Urban Sketchers Brisbane since mid-2017, and has been invited to exhibit his work at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Alan&#x27;s sketches will appear alongside sketches by Peter Richards, in THE WORLD OF URBAN SKETCHING, a new book by Stephanie Bower to be published in USA in Sept 2022. The show displays work by Brisbane Urban Sketchers who have been creating sketches and paintings in the suburbs in and around Paddington in preparation. As an Urban Sketcher, Robyn Bauer has also contributed pieces to the show.The Paddington Urban Art Exhibition will also incorporate a glimpse into urban history, with photographs and stories curated by the local online history group Paddington Then and Now.This exhibition is kindly supported by the Brisbane City Council, Cr. Peter Matic of Paddington Ward, Jonty Bush M.P., and Snapshot Storytelling.
