Childhood obesity is a threat to child health, now and in the long-term. Children are not doing enough activity and nearly 22% are developmentally behind in their physical health. Dr Tsiros will explore some key learnings from her research on the challenges and opportunities to get children moving well and more. OUR SPEAKERDr Margarita Tsiros, Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy (Paediatrics), University of South Australia.Margarita leads the Child Health Challenge in the IIMPACT in Health research concentration. She is also the current Chair of the SA chapter of Paediatric Group of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Informed by her clinical career, Margarita’s research strives to optimise the physical health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. Her research has attracted accolades including AMP Tomorrow-maker, Young Investigator and Tall Poppy Science awards. This year Dr Tsiros is the recipient of the 2022 HDA Women’s Excellence in Research Award. Face masks do provide a level of protection from transmission of COVID-19 and some members of the community may still choose to wear a mask when they can’t physically distance from others. The personal choice to wear a mask should be respected.It’s recommended that you continue to follow health advice and maintain social distancing and wash or sanitise your hands regularly. QR code check-ins will also no longer be required on the University campus.
