Burrinja is at the heart of the creative community of the Dandenong Ranges.Burrinja is a not-for-profit organisation that thrives thanks to the support of Yarra Ranges Council, artists, visitors and our community.  We deliver a wide array of cultural experiences to the Dandenong Ranges region and beyond. The 400 seat theatre and 130 studio theatre combines professional performers, community and school productions with a range of commercial and other hire events, while three exhibition spaces, artist’s studios and cultural development events ensures a vibrant visual and community arts program.Burrinja is: Obsessed with art. Yarra / Birrarung – Spirit in the City of Melbourne  | Aunty Janet Turpie-Johnstone / Katie Roberts an exhibition of parallel perspectives of this land.  Aunty Janet Turpie-Johnstone, a salt-water woman from Portland and Katie Roberts a non-Indigenous artist, have both been making work about the Yarra/Birrarung for many years; Aunty Janet Turpie-Johnstone through her PhD research and Katie Roberts for over the last fifteen years of her artistic practice. This exhibition presents their two parallel artistic endeavours to listen to the land and the river.Birrarung-dhum-djerring - speak-together | Group showWriter Indigo Perry, musician Andrew Darling, fibre artist Brooke Wandin and filmmaker/photographer Ryan Tews went along the upper reaches of the Birrarrung/Yarra River to carry out dialogues with the the river and surrounds through creative practices. They were dialogues about reconciliation and environmental concerns.
