Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT

If COVID restrictions prevent SHFPACT staff from delivering this training face to face, it will be presented online at the scheduled time and date. The goal of Teaching Relationships and Puberty in Grades 3-6 (TQI accredited course) is to increase teachers&#x27; skills and confidence in delivering sexuality and relationships education in primary schools.As ‘sexuality’ and ‘relationships’ is a focus area in the Australia Health and Physical Education Curriculum (Australia Curriculum, 2018), teachers must deliver this content in schools.Teaching Relationships and Puberty in Grades 3-6 is designed to support teachers in delivering this content to a high standard, fulfilling curriculum requirements and contributing to educating a generation of sexually healthy adults. The program focuses on:<ul><li>Child sexual development</li><li>The changes of puberty – physical, social and emotional</li><li>Communication skills to teach students about relationships and protective behaviours</li><li>Responding to challenging behaviours in the classroom</li><li>Answering difficult questions</li></ul>Note: If schools would like multiple members of staff trained, we are happy to provide the training ‘in house’ at schools.
