Hue: Colour the Conversation

Join us for three online community sessions of our Antiracism, Deconstructing Whiteness  and Allyship Workshops

Workshops are limited to 25 people so get in quick. These sessions will be led by a expert person of colour facilitator via zoom. If you&#x27;ve been looking for ways to be a good ally and be anti racist in the way you work, think and navigate the world then this workshop series is for you. These workshops are the perfect to develop your understanding of structural racism and your skills in challenging racism and oppression when you see it.Workshop 1: 101: Understanding Race &amp; Racism Date/Time: September 6th 9.30am - 1pm This is an engaging and interactive session designed to develop literacy, empathy, and understanding of race-related issues and identities, and improve safety and support for people of colour in your organisation, movement or place of work. It is appropriate for a range of knowledge levels and experiences, and creates a safe environment for real conversations about race and racism. Workshop 2: Deconstructing Whiteness* Date/Time: September 13th 9.30am - 1pm This workshop explores what Whiteness looks like, how it shapes our values, ways of life and how we understand the world, and its structural impacts in our workplaces. We examine common problematic responses to racial discourse and how to identify those within ourselves and others. Often our instinct is to jump to action before we have had time to adequately reflect and process our learnings. This workshop is focussed on reflection rather than jumping too fast to solutions. It the perfect precursor to our allyship workshop for people looking to challenge themselves and go further in their learning.Workshop 3: Allyship*Date/Time: September 20th 9.30am - 1pm This workshop converts your newly developed understanding of race and racism into practical skills for meaningful allyship in your everyday life. Using a combination of group work, role play, and personal reflection, this workshop develops capacity for solidarity, accountability and empowered change. Contact us at info@huecolourtheconversation.com to discuss options.To attend a workshop marked with a * you must have completed our 101 Understanding Race &amp; Racism.Access info: Participants require a computer device, microphone and camera to participate in the online sessions. Some components of the workshop may not be supported on a mobile device. Slides are written with large text and colour contrast with image descriptions and alt text provided. There are two 5 minute breaks and one 10 minute break, participants are welcome to eat or take breaks when needed. Auslan interpreter can be provided upon request.
