The Learning Advisers at ANU Academic Skills work with students to develop the key academic skills and communication strategies that are foundational to all academic activity. We work with students from first year undergraduate to final year Phd, by conducting workshops, one to one appointments and a variety of self help online resources.

Want to become more efficient and effective readers for research?

This workshop examines the tools and strategies to help you to manage, organise and categorise the literature more effectively, especially as you immerse yourself in the literature to refine your research topic and question as part of your Thesis Proposal Review process. Preparation work: Before the workshop, please select a reading that you are currently using and be prepared to discuss it in the workshop. As you are reading your chosen work, consider the following questions:<ul><li>Why are you reading this article/chapter/report?</li><li>How does this reading relate to the broader academic debates in your field?</li><li>Why will this work be relevant for your own thesis?</li><li>What is your critical evaluation of this work?</li></ul>Please note that this workshop is for ANU students only. Academic Skills will send a Zoom link to your student account on the day.
