Australian Women in Music Awards Conference 2022

Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA) is an annual awards ceremony, concert and conference celebrating the contributions of women in all areas of the Australian music industry.The inaugural AWMA in 2018 was a watershed moment for the Australian Music Industry, driving a major cultural shift across the entire sector, highlighting the achievements of women, igniting collaboration and support nationally for diverse female creatives and music practitioners across the sector. In just four years, AWMA’s mission is to deliver programs which drive systemic change to make visible female First Nations and multicultural artists, women working in remote and regional communities, female producers, engineers and technicians, emerging artists, elders, leaders and music practitioners across all genres of music.

This full day event offers two sessions. Diversity &amp; Inclusivity - 10am to 12.30pm Women across generations and identities come together to reflect on art and music and its power to create social change. Collective Change &amp; Well-being - 2.00pm to 4.30pm The afternoon’s program addresses challenges to achieve a strong work life balance to sustain a long and successful career in an industry that is in the midst of extensive systemic change. DIVERSITY &amp; INCLUSIVITYFILM SCREENING - It’s Our Duty! Reflections of Women &amp; Hip Hop In this film directed by Liza Moscatelli, women come together to shape a response to their identity and to reflect on the challenging times we live in whilst bringing together true narratives through collective storytelling and artistic and musical practice. FORUM 1 - Women &amp; Hip Hop Reflections of Australian female Hip Hop pioneers and multi-disciplinary artists. Joined by film Director Liza Moscatelli and facilitated by Producer Kween G, this panel talks challenges, wins and aspirations for the future of women and Hip Hop. Facilitator, Kween G with panellists Liza Moscatelli, BARKAA and Busty Beatz. FORUM 2 - Workplace Safety &amp; Sexual Harassment The industry unites to speak about the strategies of continuing to fight for safe workplaces and spaces in the Australian Music Industry. Women are speaking up about sexual harassment, bullying and assault. Their stories are being reported and believed. But are the courageous exceptions just the tip of a silent iceberg of suffering? Worse, does the publicity of some high-profile cases blow back on other individuals and make them think twice about speaking out? Facilitator, Poppy Reid with panellists Tamara Georgopoulos, Clare Gleghorn and Dr Jeffrey Crabtree .COLLECTIVE CHANGE &amp; WELL-BEING Tina Arena AM In Conversation with Yumi Stynes Beloved Australian singer-songwriter, musician, musical theatre actor and record producer, Tina Arena discusses the intricacies and roller coaster ride of her 40-year international music career, paved with extraordinary achievements and highlights. Tina is the only Australian artist to have gold or platinum album releases in every decade since the 1970s. Tina’s second studio album Don’t Ask, sold over 2 million copies worldwide and reached a record 10 x platinum in Australia.  FORUM 3 - AWMA Youth &amp; Mental Health This forum focuses on mental health and takes a deep look at the many challenges faced by young women, GNC &amp; LGBTQI working in the Australian music industry today. We discuss the opportunity to reconstruct the traditional culture and the opportunities to move forward.
