PRINT STITCH BIND

Take time out to learn something new and exciting! Botanical printing is a way to transfer and preserve  leaf patterns on cloth and paper, use mark making and stitch to add depth to a botanically printed fabric, create bookcloth and bind a unique journal.

PRINT - Saturday, February 19. You will never look at leaves in the same way again. Botanical Printing on cotton and paper. Start the day with a walk along Narrogin Creek collecting leaves with tutors Annette Nykiel and Dianne Strahan. Explore basic mordanting, paper cutting and mark making techniques. This will give you the knowledge and confidence to create your beautiful botanical prints on paper and cotton. Take home two pieces of botanically printed cloth plus enough printed papers to create your own book.Morning and afternoon tea supplied, students need to BYO lunch.Papers and cloth supplied along with workshop notes and most other requirements.STITCH - Sunday, February 20. Turn a botanical print into a work of art! Experiment with stitch to make marks, add texture and colour. Take a day off, relax and give yourself permission to enjoy and learn. Immerse yourself in slow stitching techniques along with mark making to enrich a piece of botanically printed cloth or paper.Spend time contemplating nature, appreciating the moment and the process of stitching for stitching’s sake while using your needle to create just as you would with paint or pencil to enhance a botanically printed piece of cotton.Morning and afternoon tea supplied, students need to BYO lunch.Papers and cloth supplied along with workshop notes and most other requirements. BIND - Saturday, February 26. A great way to start your book making journey. In this full day of practical advice and hands on learning explore paper cutting and book making techniques, create a unique cloth cover and finish your piece by using a modern version of 2000yo Coptic binding. This is a wonderful way to showcase your botanically printed papers, or use plain paper to create a journal.Morning and afternoon tea supplied, students need to BYO lunch.Book board, fabric, waxed linen threads and paper supplied along with workshop notes and most other requirements.Most equipment is provided but students will be requested to bring a few extra basic supplies if they have them. This list will be emailed upon ticket purchase.
