2026 Snakes Alive! Sensory Session

2026 Snakes Alive! Sensory Session

Overview

Get ready to slither into a world of scaly fun at Snakes Alive - where you can meet, learn about, and even hold some amazing live snakes!

Snakes Alive! Sensory Session is presented by the ACT Herpetological Association (ACTHA) in partnership with the Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG). This week-long exhibition showcases a variety of Australian reptiles and amphibians - many of which are threatened, endangered and rarely seen in the wild or in captivity.

Kids and carers can get up close and enjoy live displays, feeding and handling of snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles and crocodiles while learning more about these fascinating animals.

Snakes Alive! is being held in the Banksia Centre at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Follow the signs from the Gardens' car park.

Sensory sessions on 9am-9:40am on Tuesday and Saturday mornings provide a quieter calmer enviroment to encounter reptiles.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Funds raised through Snakes Alive! help the ACTHA support regional conservation issues such as the Northern and Southern Corroboree Frog breeding programs, and other projects furthering reptile and amphibian protection and recovery, education, training, and research.
