2026 LNY - Chinese Knotting workshop

Arncliffe LibraryArncliffe, NSW
Monday, Feb 23 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm AEDT
Overview

Discover the beauty of Chinese knots, a traditional craft where each loop and pattern carry wishes of good luck, harmony and prosperity.

Chinese knotting is a traditional folk art that symbolises good luck, harmony, love, prosperity and unity. Each knot is hand‑woven from one or more cords into elegant, symmetrical designs. Different knot patterns carry their own special meanings, expressing wishes such as happiness, peace and longevity.

In this hands‑on workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of Chinese knotting. Guided by an experienced facilitator, this session encourages creativity, patience, and mindfulness. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with cultural heritage, enjoy a relaxed, social crafting experience, and create your own Chinese knots for decoration as a symbol of good fortune to welcome the Year of the Horse!

This workshop is designed for people aged 16 and over and limited to Bayside Library members.

Please ensure that you arrive on time for this workshop.

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your booking will be automatically cancelled and your ticket will be given to someone in the queue.

For enquiries, please contact Arncliffe Library on 9562 1816.
