The End-of-Year Drinks of the International Wine Law Association (Australasian Section) (AIDV Australasia) will be held on Thursday 18 December 2025 at the Exeter Hotel.
Join us for an evening of connection, conversation, and celebration as we raise a glass to the Australian wine sector, whether in commiseration or celebration! This event is open to everyone: not just members, and certainly not just lawyers. If you have a passion for wine, an interest in the state of the Australian wine industry, or simply want to expand your network in the Australasian wine community, you are warmly encouraged to attend.
Keynote Speaker: Helen Strachan
We are delighted to announce Helen Strachan, newly appointed Chair of Australian Grape & Wine, as our keynote speaker. Helen brings nearly two decades of experience in the wine sector and a lifelong connection to agriculture, having grown up on a stone fruit and grape property in Renmark, South Australia. Her career includes senior leadership roles at Pernod Ricard Winemakers, where she was part of the global management team, and extensive service on industry boards, including the National Wine Foundation and DrinkWise. Helen is widely respected for her governance expertise, advocacy, and commitment to diversity and inclusion in wine.
Helen will reflect on recent times in the wine sector, including the landmark consolidation of Pernod Ricard and Accolade Wines to form Vinarchy, a new global wine powerhouse with 11 wineries across four countries and annual sales of AU$1.5 billion. This merger signals a bold response to structural challenges and shifting consumer trends, and Helen will share her perspective on what this means for the Australian wine industry.
Her address will explore opportunities and challenges ahead, from navigating oversupply and price pressures to embracing innovation, sustainability, and structural change.
Why Attend?
- Network with professionals and enthusiasts across the Australasian wine sector.
- Gain insider perspectives on the future of Australian wine from one of its most influential leaders.
- Celebrate the resilience and creativity of our industry in a convivial setting.
What's Included?
- A glass of sparkling wine on arrival (additional drinks can be purchased at the Exeter Hotel bar).
- Shared platters for you to enjoy.

We invite you to share this event with your network (non-members are welcome), and look forward to raising a glass with you!
