Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ticket for each team entering?

Yes. Each team entering the triathlon requires 1 ticket for each team that wants to compete in one of our age divisions.

The ticket says free but I saw a $20 entry fee.

The cost of the event of $20 per team is billed after the event to allow maximum flexibility if teams do not attend on the day. We are also not using the built in payment options in Eventbrite.

Can a team compete across divisions?

Yes, their own division and the Open division. However, a team cannot compete in a lower division.

What division do I choose with a mixed year level team?

Example: a group of year 3 & 4 students will choose Upper Primary because division entry is based on the highest year level of the students in the team. The same would be true with a team of year 9 & 10 students. The team enters the Open division.

Surely, a team can build one robot and modify it for each event?

No. Once the robot has been registered and photographed on the day the robot cannot change in any way. The only permitted changes are replacement of broken parts which must be done in the presence of an event volunteer. Note: Programs can be modified without restrictions once competition begins.

Are adults allowed to help competitors during the event?

No. Once registration is closed, adults will not be allowed back in to competitor prep/pit area unless accompanied by a volunteer. Adults are welcome to watch around the competition areas. Adults are encouraged to cheer for their teams but not actively coach in each individual event arena.
