About this event

WORKING IT OUT Invites you to mark IDAHOBIT 2024.

May 17th each year is International Day Against Prejudice & Discrimination towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans and gender diverse people and people with Intersex characteristics. This date was chosen to commemorate the day of the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

Tickets include a full buffet breakfast (see FAQs below for details), and the opportunity to hear from multiple guest speakers addressing our theme for 2024's Dorothies Awards - recognising Excellence in LGBTIQA+ Inclusion in Government Departments/ Agencies. You will also be the first to hear the announcement of 2025's theme (TBC).

As well as, or in lieu of, purchasing your own ticket, you have the option to make a tax-deductible donation. These funds will be used to sponsor tickets for members of the community who may otherwise be unable to afford to attend. Any funds not used for tickets will go directly to supporting the work of Working It Out.

Once again we are also offering organisations and individuals the opportunity to sponsor the event. We are excited to already have the University of Tasmania as a Major Sponsor, and Carer Gateway / Care2Serve, Relationships Australia Tasmania, and Clarence City Council as our Major Community Sponsors, as well. For further information please contact Working It Out directly at info@workingitout.org.au or 03 6231 1200

Ticket sales close at midnight, on Sunday, May 12th.

FAQs

How do I pay by credit card?

When buying tickets by credit card follow the PayPal links and you will have the credit card option on the bottom of the PayPal screen.

Can I purchase a ticket at the door?

No, tickets are only available by presale as the venue needs to know numbers in advance for catering.

If you cannot pay online, or need to be invoiced, you can indicate as such when booking.

Please contact WIO if you have any questions.

Can I make a group booking?

Yes, there are two options. Firstly, you can book and pay for a table of 10 for $550 using the "As an individual" purchase option. This provides a $5 per person discount off the price of a Non-Member - Full ticket.

The second option is to use the option to book "As a group member", where you can either create or join a group. You then purchase your ticket as an individual, and invite others to join your group booking. This will make it more likely for your group to be able to sit together, and allows group members to pay separately.

What if I have dietary requirements?

The food will be served as a buffet. The buffet will include options that are gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. You can select foods that are appropriate to your dietary needs. If you have other requirements that are not included, you can indicate this on the ticket order form.

Please contact WIO should you have any further questions.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The Hobart Function and Conference Centre is on the Hobart Waterfront. Parking on the waterfront is free until 8:00am, then payable by voucher. Also nearby is the Dunn Place voucher parking area, near the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, and slightly further away are the Market Place and Argyle St multi-story carparks. The bus terminus on Elizabeth St in the Hobart CBD is a short walk from the venue, and there is plenty of space to park bicycles if that is your preferred mode of transport.
