2024 ACTEBA Open Trials Event

The Open Trials event is scheduled for the following dates:

Rd 1 - 1st/2nd June

No matches June Long Weekend - 8th/9th June

Rd 2 - 15th/16th June

Rd 3 - 22nd/23rd June

Rd 4 (Top 20) - 29th/30th June

Preferred day of play

Please note there is no guaranteed day of play. It is up to players to notify the tournament director before each round if you can't play on a particular day on the coming weekend. If you notify the tournament director on the Monday of each week then all attempts to give you your preferred day of play will be made.

Seeds may be required to play in earlier rounds than indicated below.

• Week 1 (Seeds 9 to 40 have a Bye….. 32 players) - 108 players split into 12 groups of 9- Round robin x 3 - Top 3 players proceed to week 2

• Week 2 (68 players) – Seeds 9 to 40 join this round- 4 groups of 8 and 4 of 9- Round robin x 3 or 4 - Top 3 players proceed to week 3

• Week 3 (32 players) – Top 8 seeds join this round- 4 groups of 8- Round robin x 5 (will only use 4 table venues)- Top 5 progress to Final/Top 20

• Week 4 – Top 20 (Top 5 from each group week 3)- Round robin x 4 - Top 5 qualify for State Team and join Winner & Runner-up from singles event, wild cards from those representing Australia, and the Superleague top percentage.

Play schedule

Play commences at 10 am where possible, but this may vary depending on the venues being used. Tables will be open half an hour before the expected starting time for practice. Rounds will require at least 6 hours to complete. There will be no breaks for lunch.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

• Anyone who has entered or intends on entering the selection trials of another state or territory will be ineligible to compete in the ACT selection trials.• Entries for the Open Trials are due by Monday 27th May 2024.• NO entries will be accepted without the accompanying fees. The relevant entry fees (see above) MUST accompany entries.• The format and dates for the selection trials have been based on an expected number of entries being received. The Tournament Director reserves the right to vary both the format and dates should this become necessary.• Seeds will be taken strictly from the ACTEBA rankings as at May 2024. All groups (including seeds) are initially compiled from the rankings, then adjusted where possible for preferred day of play. • No changes to the groups will be made once they are finalised and released, so if you are unable to play on a particular day, you must advise the tournament director by the Monday before the weekend or at time of entry.• All entries are accepted under the provision that the entrant agrees to abide by all and any directions made by the Tournament Director and that their decisions will be final.• Note that if you are selected to represent the ACT at the 2024 National titles you will be required to pay a deposit of $300.00 within 2 weeks of notification of your selection. If you do not pay your deposit within 2 weeks your place will be offered to the next eligible player.• The draws will be e-mailed to all competitors who have provided an email address, and will also be available on the ACTEBA website (acteba.com.au) and Facebook page. Competitors will NOT be notified by phone. It is each player’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of when and where they are playing.
