Secondary school students and teachers are encouraged by the Andy Thomas Space Foundation to attend a 1 hour Space Passport session at the 17th Space Forum being held in Adelaide, South Australia on Wednesday 24th July or Thursday 25th July, 2024 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. These sessions provide the perfect opportunity for students and teachers to learn about current/future careers within the Space Economy and Industry and inspire young people to develop the skills to push forward the frontiers of scientific knowledge.

The Space Passport sessions encourage students to;

  • Talk directly to companies currently involved with the Australian Space Sector
  • Ask companies about current and future careers within their industry
  • Find out about the school and tertiary pathways needed to enter the discussed careers
  • Have their Space Passport stamped by 4 exhibiting companies after discussing careers and pathways then enter details in an online survey at the Hamilton Secondary College - Space School Booth to win a prize
  • Discover out Government School students can register Space Passport Sessions as a 'My Career Portal' activity through the SA Department for Education Student Pathways website.

Space Passport sessions for Secondary schools are only available on each day of the Space Forum from 8:45am - 9:45am (Session 1), 11:00am - 12:00am (Session 2) and 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm (Session 3) for both Government and Catholic/Independent sectors when Exhibitors at their Booths will be available for student queries and discussions.

The Australian Space Agency have opened sessions at the Space Discovery Centre for each day of the Space Forum from 9:30am - 10:20am (Session A), 10:30am-11:20am (Session B), 11:30pm-12:20pm (Session C) and 12:30pm-1:20pm-to enable students to attend pre and post-Space Passport Sessions.

It is recommended that adjacent sessions be booked when registering for Space Passport tickets on the ticket booking page. Currently transport between the Space Discovery Centre (Lot 14) and the Space Passport (Adelaide Convention Centre) sessions is via free 'Botanic Gardens' tram access on North Terrace which run every 10 minutes.(https://www.railmaps.com.au/routedetails.php?TableSelect=500&traveldate=2022-10-25&)

Registrations will open Tuesday 7th May 2024 (Term2: Week 2) and close 5pm Thursday 27 June 2024 (Term2: Week 9).

With the limited availability of this event and our Space related company exhibitors’ time to maximise the amount of schools that are able to attend, schools are limited to one session with up to 12 attendees (including students and teachers). There are currently a total of 40 tickets available in each session. Individual students with parents are also welcome to register and Interstate students travelling with parents attending the 17th Space forum can also register. Registered students and Teachers need to 'Check In' at the start of their Space Passport session at the Hamilton Secondary College - Space School Booth .

Due to number restrictions all Space Passport Session registrants who do not hold an all-day 17th Space Forum registration will be asked to finalise their passports/survey data and leave the Exhibitors Hall by either 9.50 am (Session 1), 12.05 am (Session 2) and 3:05 pm (Session 3). Access to Space Forum talks and drinks/refreshments are only available for FULL Space Forum delegates.

As of Saturday, 14 May, 2022, visitors to the Adelaide Convention Centre are not required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to gain entry.The Adelaide Convention Centre remains committed to providing a COVID Safe environment for all guests.
