About this event

Beneath the modern Bank Arcade are the remains of Hobart’s oldest known building. Owner John Short will bring this curious building history to life and reveal its connection to Royal Navy officer and colonial administrator William Bligh.

Join John for an overview of the built history of the site, to find out what his research reveals about construction works in 1806, 1812, 1835, 1860 and 1958. The tour will investigate parts of Hobart's earliest building, found deep in the basement below the arcade walkway, the site of Hobart's first shop.
