Event description

Date: Wednesday 27 November 2019

Time: 8:45am-4:30pm

Description of event organiser:

The Australian Government Department of Agriculture develops and implements policies and programs to ensure Australia's agricultural, fisheries, food and forestry industries remain competitive, profitable and sustainable, and supports the sustainable and productive management and use of rivers and water resources. Biosecurity is a critical part of the government's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases that threaten the economy and environment. The department works to ensure continued market access for our products and to maintain our high standards for emergency response.

The National Biosecurity Committee (NBC) is responsible for managing a national, strategic approach to biosecurity threats relating to plant and animal pests and diseases, marine pests and aquatics, and the impact of these on agricultural production, the environment, community well-being and social amenity.

You are invited to the 2019 National Biosecurity Forum on Wednesday 27 November 2019 in Canberra at the National Museum of Australia. This is a joint event hosted by the NBC and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture.

The National Biosecurity Forum is an opportunity to discuss biosecurity challenges, achievements and future directions directly with government and a broad range of industry and community representatives.

Participants will hear updates from the Australian Government and industry and committee representatives.

A detailed agenda will be provided closer to the event.
