Goldfields-Esperance Aboriginal Women's Gathering
Three days of inspiration, big ideas, connection and action.
The inaugural Goldfields-Esperance Aboriginal Women’s Gathering (GEAWG) is a place for knowledge to move between women, communities, generations and systems. For three days, Aboriginal women, and those who walk alongside us, will come together to share what we know, learn from one another and imagine what could be possible. Because when women have access to knowledge, space to share their own, and the confidence to use both, conversations become decisions, ideas become action, and women begin shaping the future on their own terms.
GEAWG is inviting Aboriginal women, community leaders, practitioners, organisations, researchers, advocates, creatives and allies locally and from across Australia to share knowledge, experience and ideas with women of the Goldfields-Esperance.
More detailed information on each day can be found below.
*Important to note - Day 3 has two seperate events during the day and the Gala Dinner in the evening, one is excusively for Aboriginal women of the region.
Day 1 | Understanding Systems
Seeing the Bigger Picture

An opportunity to explore how systems operate, where decisions are made, whose interests are represented, and where opportunities for influence exist.
Powerful voices, big ideas and practical information.
Through inspiring keynotes, thought-provoking panels, interactive workshops and shared conversations, Day One will unpack how systems work, who influences them and where opportunities for change exist.
Day 2 | Setting Direction
Growing What We Know
Wednesday 7th April - 8:30pm - 5:30pm
Hear from other women leading change across different sectors, explore approaches that have worked, test ideas, and consider what could be adapted to their own communities.
Through inspiring keynotes, engaging panels, interactive workshops and shared conversations, Day Two will explore how women can influence decisions, strengthen regional leadership and turn knowledge into meaningful action.
Day 3 - 2 seperate events (see below)
Thursday 8th April - 8:30pm - 3pm
Event 1: Honouring Our Voices, Honouring Our Future
Exclusive for Aboriginal women of the Goldfields-Esperance Region
Exclusively for Aboriginal women, this is where women can interpret what was heard, identify regional, community and other priorities, and determine what collective action, leadership and investment should follow.
Building on the knowledge and conversations of the previous two days, women will explore shared regional priorities, opportunities for collective action and the foundations for ongoing leadership, advocacy and change.
Event 2: Beyond the Gathering: Reflection, Responsibility & Action
Facilitated Stakeholder Forum
Building on the knowledge, perspectives and conversations shared throughout the first two days, this forum will provide an opportunity for representatives from government, industry, community organisations and the broader sector to examine the systems they operate within, question existing approaches and consider what meaningful change requires of them.
Through guided discussions, participants will explore institutional barriers, opportunities for reform, investment in Aboriginal women's leadership and succession, and practical actions their organisations and sectors can take.
