TAFE Access and Inclusion: How are we doing?

North Metropolitan TAFE is developing its new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2027–2031.

Join us to share your experiences, identify barriers and suggest improvements for NMTAFE’s new DAIP. We want to hear what we are doing well, what barriers people experience and what we should prioritise to make our services, facilities, information, education and workplaces more accessible and inclusive.

What is a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan?

Under the Disability Services Act 1993, Western Australian public authorities are required to develop, implement and maintain a current DAIP. The plan must be reviewed at least every five years.

The DAIP addresses seven outcome areas:

  • Outcome 1: Events and Services
  • Outcome 2: Buildings and Facilities
  • Outcome 3: Information
  • Outcome 4: Service Quality
  • Outcome 5: Complaints
  • Outcome 6: Consultation
  • Outcome 7: Employment

Its main focus is to improve access to services and information, identify and remove barriers, and promote inclusion and equal opportunity for people with disability.

Who can participate?

We welcome feedback from:

· people with disability

· current, former and prospective students

· families, carers and support people

· NMTAFE staff

· disability service providers, advocates and community organisations

· employers and industry partners

· other interested members of the community.

How will your feedback be used?

Your feedback will help NMTAFE identify priorities and develop the draft DAIP and its proposed actions.

Responses will be considered alongside existing evidence, legislative requirements and operational considerations. Final decisions about the DAIP will be made through NMTAFE’s governance and approval processes.

The consultation findings will be documented and used to inform the draft DAIP.
