Watercolour in Spring: A Journey of Mind, Memory & Reflection
A four-hour mindful watercolour experience with artist Arafat Hosen exploring observation, memory and the quiet possibilities of watercolour
This spring, Sienna Arts invites you to step away from the rush of everyday life and spend a few hours immersed in the gentle, expressive world of watercolour.
Led by Artist and Educator Arafat Hosen, this four-hour workshop explores painting not simply as a technique, but as a way of slowing down, observing and responding.
Through guided exercises and a complete watercolour painting, participants will explore the relationship between mind, memory, nature and mark-making learning how water, pigment, light and instinct can work together on paper.
Rather than focusing on perfection, the workshop encourages you to notice, experiment and allow the unpredictable nature of watercolour to become part of the creative process.
Whether this is your first time holding a watercolour brush or you already enjoy painting, you are warmly welcome.
What You’ll Explore
During the workshop, Arafat will guide you through:
- Understanding watercolour materials and how to use them confidently
- Water and pigment control
- Creating washes, edges and expressive marks
- Observing light, colour and atmosphere
- Simplifying a scene rather than trying to paint every detail
- Building depth while keeping a painting fresh and spontaneous
- Developing a more intuitive and mindful approach to painting
- Creating your own finished watercolour work to take home
The session combines demonstration, guided practice and individual support in a relaxed small-group environment.
Your Workshop Experience
This isn't designed as a formal art class where everyone is expected to create an identical painting.
We want you to have time to observe, make, pause and respond.
Arafat will demonstrate his process and guide you step-by-step, while encouraging each participant to discover their own marks and interpretation.
There will also be time to enjoy tea and refreshments, connect with others and simply enjoy making something by hand.
