A community mental health event exploring body image and self-perception through open conversation and a creative life drawing session.

This event is hosted by <a href="https://www.gatherwellbeing.com.au" title="https://www.gatherwellbeing.com.au" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gather</a>, a local Brisbane community group that meets on the last Sunday of every month.Gather events invite genuine connection with new people while creating opportunities to move, learn, grow, and create alongside like-minded individuals. Each event explores a different topic related to mental health and wellbeing, and this month we'll be focusing on body image and self-perception.We'll begin with a 45-minute guided conversation led by Alissa, Registered Counsellor and founder of Gather. Together, we'll explore our relationship with our bodies and unpack the concept of body neutrality—shifting the focus away from appearance and towards appreciation for what our bodies allow us to experience, do, and achieve. Through thoughtful discussion and shared reflection, we'll explore practical ways to cultivate a more compassionate and balanced relationship with ourselves.Following the conversation, we'll move into a one-hour life drawing session featuring nude model Jaiden (@laedbare). This creative experience offers an opportunity to observe and appreciate the human body through an artistic lens, encouraging a broader perspective on the human body.The aim of this event is to foster meaningful connection, learn from one another's experiences, and create space for personal growth in a supportive and welcoming environment.Further details:<ul><li>Drawing boards, paper and pencils will be provided</li><li>Event starts at 1:00 pm, but you are encouraged to arrive 10 mins early for time to connect and settle in the space</li><li>BYO favourite drawing utensils (if you prefer colour or texture in your drawings)</li><li>25$ per ticket</li><li>Hosted by Alissa, a Registered Counsellor and mental health workshop facilitator.</li></ul>We acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera people as the traditional owners of the land on which we will meet and create. We extend our respect to their elders, past, present and emerging.
