How landscape architecture played a key role in the design of three Australian war memorials.

Join us for this presentation by Matthew Taylor, award-winning landscape architect and heritage practitioner.Matthew will discuss the historical context and built outcomes of three nationally significant war memorials that he designed:<ul><li>Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway at Concord on the banks of the Parramatta River in Sydney</li><li>Australian Corps Memorial at Le Hamel in the Somme, France</li><li>ANZAC Commemorative site at Gallipoli, Turkey</li></ul>He'll explore the political context of the time of memorial making, and the design influences that inspired him.We'll discover the distinctive geographical context of the memorials and diverse design and the resulting landscape outcomes.About our presenterMatthew Taylor B.A. M.A., M.AILA, has over 35 years’ experience as a landscape architect and conservation landscape architect. He has specialist expertise in heritage landscapes, master planning, residential subdivisions and the adaptive reuse of former heritage-listed industrial sites.
