This interactive, practical workshop is designed for Queensland defence SMEs and supply‑chain businesses seeking to develop strong, compliant and compelling DIDG grant applications. Led by experienced defence and grants practitioners from Buzzworks, the session demystifies the DIDG process and provides participants with tools, templates and insights to lift application quality and success rates.
The workshop will cover:
- an overview of the Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) program and its four funding streams (Sovereign Industrial Priorities, Skilling, Exports and Security)
- understanding eligibility criteria and how applications are assessed
- how to align your project with Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities and DIDG objectives
- practical guidance on drafting clear, persuasive project narratives and outcomes
- best‑practice approaches to grant writing versus sales and capability pitching
- budgeting, milestones, attachments and common compliance pitfalls to avoid
- insights into Queensland’s DIDG performance and what successful applications do differently
- access to sample application templates, project budget tools and assessment checklists
Participants will also hear from ODIS (Office of Defence Industry Support), providing insights to the function of ODIS and the advisory, guidance and mentoring services available to SMEs.
Morning tea will be provided.

- it is required, authorised or permitted by law

By registering for, purchasing a ticket to, or attending the Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) Grant Writing Workshop (Workshop) hosted by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDIP, we, us, our), and delivered by the Workshop Provider (as defined in clause 8), the Workshop participant (you, your) agrees to these terms and conditions (Terms).
Defined terms have the meaning given to them throughout these Terms.
We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. If such changes constitute a material change (as determined by us acting reasonably), we will notify you.
1. Workshop attendance
1.1 To attend the Workshop you must:
a) register via the nominated registration platform and pay any applicable fee;
b) comply with these Terms and any reasonable directions given by DSDIP staff during the Workshop; and
c) behave respectfully towards all participants and facilitators.
2. Changes, cancellation and refunds
2.1. We may cancel, postpone or reschedule the Workshop at our discretion.
2.2. If we cancel the Workshop, you will receive a full refund of any registration fee paid, less any booking fees that may be applicable.
2.3. If the Workshop is rescheduled, you may choose to:
a) transfer your registration to the new date; or
b) receive a full refund.
2.4. We are not responsible for any other costs you incur (for example travel or accommodation).
3. Participation
3.1. The Workshop is intended to support participants in understanding and preparing potential applications for the Defence Industry Development Grant (Grant).
3.2. Participation in the Workshop:
a) does not guarantee that you will be eligible for the Grant; and
b) does not guarantee that any Grant application will be successful.
4. Materials and information
4.1. Any materials provided as part of the Workshop (including templates, examples and
guidance) are provided for general information only.
4.2. While we aim to provide helpful and accurate information, the Workshop does not constitute legal, financial or professional advice.
4.3. You should obtain your own independent advice before making decisions or submitting any application in connection with the Grant.
4.4. Materials provided at the Workshop are for your internal use only and must not be reproduced or distributed without our prior written consent.
4.5. The State makes no statement, representation, guarantee or warranty about the quality, accuracy, currency, context, completeness, availability or suitability of the information contained or referenced (including third party material) in the Workshop.
5. No funding commitment
5.1. Attendance at, or participation in, the Workshop does not:
a) constitute an offer of funding;
b) create any eligibility or entitlement to any funding; or
c) represent a commitment by the State of Queensland (State) to approve any Grant application.
5.2. All Grant applications are subject to separate assessment and approval processes.
6. Liability
6.1. To the extent permitted by law, the State is not liable for any loss, damage, costs or expenses (including direct, indirect or consequential loss) incurred by you or any other person arising from:
a) your attendance at, or participation in, the Workshop; or
b) your use of, or reliance on, any materials or information provided as part of the Workshop.
6.2. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under applicable law which cannot be excluded.
7. Workshop delivery
7.1. The Workshop will be delivered by a third party engaged by DSDIP, Buzzworks Pty Ltd (Workshop Provider).
7.2. The Workshop Provider is not an agent of the State, and the State is not responsible for the acts, omissions or conduct of the Workshop Provider, except to the extent required by law.
7.3. Any views, opinion or advice expressed by the Workshop Provider are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of the State.
7.4. The Workshop Provider may impose reasonable terms and conditions in relation to the delivery of the Workshop (including venue requirements, safety requirements and participation conduct), and you agree to comply with those requirements.
7.5. To the extent of any inconsistency, these Terms prevail over any terms imposed by the Workshop Provider.

8.1. In this clause, ‘personal information’ has the meaning given in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and includes information or an opinion about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
