Image 1 - By 1967 the concrete had been poured for three pools on the eastern edge of the Gardens, designed by landscape architect Otto Ruzicka. Much of the underlying soil had come from excavating what was to become Lake Burley Griffin prior to its flooding in 1964.
Image 2 - By 1968 the concrete pools were filled, the pump was operating and the waterfall was running. Planting had commenced, temporary labels were in place, and the first water-plants were positioned. This photo shows the middle of three pools designed by landscape architect Otto Ruzicka.
