UNSW Orchestra 2026 Auditions: Strings

Rehearsals are every Tuesday 6:30-9:00pm during the academic term at the Sir John Clancy Auditorium UNSW, conducted by Steven Hillinger. The UNSW Orchestra is a fixed ensemble and therefore it is expected all members will return each term to play unless discussed prior with the conductor and the Music Performance Unit.

All members of the UNSW Orchestra are required to audition.

String auditions will take place from 10am on Friday, 13 February in room G14 Robert Webster Building.

Please register for your audition before Wednesday 11, February at 17:00.

Please be prepared to play and complete:

• Two pieces to play unaccompanied on your nominated instrument
• Scales
• Sight reading

Video Auditions

If you are unable to attend the auditions in person, please select the video audition option.

Video auditions are due before 9am on Wednesday, 11 February.

Please email your video audition to cmc@unsw.edu.au via the file sharing service of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer etc.) Please ensure your video file is clearly labelled with your full name and instrument.

For your video audition you are required to:

1. Play two pieces unaccompanied

2. Play an orchestral excerpt which will be emailed to you on Monday, 9 February 2026.
