What could Heroic Principalship look like in Term 4 in your school?

The good news about 2021 is that the crisis presented is also an opportunity. Movie script and novel writers know well that you can’t have a hero worth admiring in a story unless that hero goes through an ordeal. Think about these examples:
* Harry Potter (the first one) - Harry, Ron and Hermione overcome obstacles like that crazy chess game to protect the Philosopher’s Stone.
* Star Wars (also the first one) - The group rescue Leia, but Darth Vader wills Obi-Wan Kenobi in the process.
* The Matrix - Neo’s group is ambushed by Agents in The Matrix.
* Spiderman - Norman figures out that Peter is Spiderman and so he kidnaps Mary-Jane
* The Lion King - Simba must choose whether to save his kingdom or keep living is new comfortable life.
* The Lord Of The Rings - Gollum leads Frodo away from Sam to Shelob’s lair.

There’s always some unforeseen ordeal or challenge in every hero’s journey. And you’ve been through an ordeal. 

Fortunately, there’s always a heroic resurrection and powerful moment of triumph if the hero is prepared to step up. It begs the question “What could Heroic Principalship look like in Term 4 in your school?&quot;

Is it about catching up for lost time? Is it being organised and orderly? Is it wellbeing focused? Is it just about getting through until that final bell sounds on a bin fire of a year so that everyone can enjoy a well-earned summer?

What would the best Principal in you do with the 2021 time you have left? What should s/he do with that time when your own energy levels are likely compromised?

I do realise that, so far anyway, I’ve provided you with more questions than answers. But these are the questions that heroic Principals are asking themselves right now. Heroic Principals have thought through the answers to these questions and they are currently allocating an appropriate amount of time and energy to those answers - because now is not the time to be all things to all people.

When it comes to heroism, it’s nearly always about saving the day to protect the days that come. Your ordeal does not define you and 2021, as crumby as it’s been, has not earned the right to wreck your 2022. 

Heroic Principals in Term 4 will be protecting themselves from distraction by planning for the valuable days to come. And this webinar is about what we’ve learned matters in our ordeal and how you can lead your school to its promised land in the future.
