5 Element Qigong - Wood (part 2)

Qigong (气功), also known as Chi Kung, is a simple form of practice from the ancient China.  It consists of movements, stillness, breath and awareness.What are the benefits of practicing Qigong (Chi Kung):Qigong balances our internal subtle energies, and also harmonises the energy within our body with that of the natural world.This improves our personal energy and vitality.When our own energy works in synchrony with the natural world,conflict ends, andstruggle eases.  There isan embodied sense of support, clarity and ease coming from life.The practice requires a gentle intention and awareness of the body  This allows us to tune into the natural spontaneity/impulses of the body, so that theneeds and guidances of the body can be heard.It also reminds us of theluminous stillnessthat encompass it all.  In this space,our natural self healing capacity is awakened.

EarthConnection Qigong

Each week we will fully immerse ourselves in a 45 mins of Qigong practice, focus on ONE Element: Wood, Fire, Earth , Metal and Water.

This is the second class on the Wood Element : you are welcome to join at any week.The Wood element relates to the season of Spring- just like a sapling of trees, we yearn for growth and movement. When in balance, we embody foresight, kindness, generosity, free expression and the fortitute to make decisions. Physically our eyes are bright, nails shining, and the tendons flexible.According to Chinese Traditional medicine, the Wood element manifests in our body through the Liver and Gall Bladder.The Wood element within us governs our sense of vision, the emotion of anger, and the sound of shouting. When that vision and plan are stifled, we feel anger: we&#x27;ve made our plan, decided to act, taken aim, and suddenly our plans are thwarted. Over time, this &quot;Liver Qi stagnation&quot; can lead to overstimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, elevated cortisol levels and therefore greater stress, all of which can compromise the immune system. In this week&#x27;s class, we will cover the following:- key points in maintaining the Qigong stance- simple forms to harmonise the Wood Element in the body- practices to activate the and nourish the 3 Dan-Tian (energy centres) - a brief seated Taoist meditation to &quot;calm&quot; the Liver-Qi- Zoom link and password will be sent in your EventBrite Ticket under the &quot;Additional Information&quot; section.- A recording of the class valid for 10 days will also be sent.
