<h1>Rehearsal Planning Masterclass</h1><h3></h3><h3><strong>Rehearsals feel like Groundhog Day? </strong></h3><h3>Make your rehearsals memorable, effective and engaging for learning that sticks.</h3><p></p><p>Create structures for better learning, retention of information and success in your ensemble.</p><p>In this <strong>3 hour online, interactive workshop</strong> you'll:</p><ul><li><strong>Learn specific techniques</strong> to plan and sequence learning over the course of an entire term or semester, through to the specifics during one rehearsal</li><li><strong>Practice</strong> planning rehearsals using your current, recent or upcoming repertoire</li><li><strong>Plan</strong> how to implement these in your rehearsals</li><li>Have ample time to <strong>ask questions</strong> about specific challenges you're facing</li></ul><p></p><p>This is NOT a sit and watch, passive Zoom session. </p><p><strong>You will be actively planning real rehearsals for your ensemble/s during the session using current or future repertoire.</strong></p><h2></h2><h2>Rehearsal Planning FAQ</h2><h3></h3><h3>Will I plan entire year of rehearsals in 3 hours? </h3><p>Haha...No. However you will practice using tools that you can then easily apply to plan an entire term, semester or year of rehearsals; as well as daily habits to use before and after rehearsals to strengthen your ensemble's learning.</p><h3>Do I need to prepare for this workshop?</h3><p>Taking a 10 minutes to reflect on your current practices around rehearsal planning - what works and what doesn't - will set you up for this workshop.</p>

<h1>Rehearsal Technique Refresher</h1><h3></h3><h3><strong>What if you could lead rehearsals that were </strong><strong><em>more</em></strong><strong> productive, meaningful and musical than before COVID?</strong></h3><h3></h3><h3>You have a choice...</h3><p>You could start the year/semester doing the same old thing you used to do, getting the same results. </p><p>Or you could invest in hearing new solutions and approaches to old problems. </p><p>To lead rehearsals that are more effective, enjoyable and musical.</p><p>It's up to you.</p><p></p><p>Start off the coming semester with clarity and confidence by refreshing and expanding your vocabulary of effective rehearsal techniques.</p><p></p><p>In this <strong>3 hour online, interactive workshop</strong> you'll:</p><ul><li>Learn specific techniques to solve common ensemble problems like dynamic contrast, articulation consistency, rhythmic precision and balance</li><li>Practice using these techniques and language with other colleagues in the workshop</li><li>Plan how to implement these in your rehearsals</li><li>Have ample time to ask questions about specific challenges you're facing</li></ul><p></p><p><em>This is NOT a sit and watch, passive Zoom session. </em></p><p><strong>You will be actively practicing saying and using these rehearsal techniques with your colleagues during the session. </strong></p><p><strong>At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with tools to continue embedding these techniques in your rehearsals.</strong></p><h2></h2><h2>Rehearsal Technique FAQ</h2><h3>Is there a live ensemble in this workshop?</h3><p>No. Because COVID (and Zoom!). You will experience rehearsal technique demonstrations, then have the chance to practice these with your colleagues. </p><p></p><h3>Do I need to prepare for this workshop?</h3><p>Taking a 10 minutes to think about what persistent musical challenges you have in rehearsals will get you in the right frame of mind before the workshop. What do you want to get better at rehearsing? What problems do you find it hard to solve in rehearsals?</p>

But there's no time..."</p><p>"Oh...and what<em> IS</em> the character of this music anyhow?"</p><h3></h3><h3>Imagine if you flipped the script...</h3><p>What if you had a way of immediately looking at scores from an expressive point of view?</p><p></p><p>So that your rehearsals START with an understanding of the story, character and emotion behind the music. </p><p></p><p>And that every teaching moment along the way you <em>find a musical reason to improve the technique</em>.</p><h3></h3><h1>Expressive Conducting Toolkit</h1><p></p><p>In this <strong>3 hour online, interactive workshop</strong> you'll:</p><ul><li>Learn and apply techniques for immediately connecting with the character and expression in a new piece of music</li><li>Connect your breath to your gesture to connect with your musicians</li><li>Go beyond beat patterns to conduct with more expression and contrast</li></ul><p></p><p><em>This is NOT a sit and watch, passive Zoom session.</em><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><strong>You will be guided through interactive, collaborative activities and practice physical exercises. </strong></p><p><strong>At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with tools to apply to any music you conduct. </strong></p><p></p><h2>Expressive Conducting FAQ</h2><h3>Is there a set piece for this workshop?</h3><p>Yes. The <a href="https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/75869/nhivp" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Overture to the Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss II</a> (click to download score from IMSLP). We’ll be focussing on the first part of the piece - from the start up to bar 126 (Piu Allegro).</p><p></p><h3>Do I need my own copy of the score?</h3><p>Yes. For the activities you'll do best with a printed hard copy (just up to bar 126) as we will be marking, drawing and writing all over the score! </p><p></p><h3>Do I need to prepare for this workshop?</h3><p>You can do the workshop without any preparation and get LOTS out of it. </p><p>However you'll get MORE out of it if you've spent a bit of time reading and listening to the music. </p><p>I understand everyone's busy, but anything is better than nothing! Once you register, you'll get access to tips and suggestions for preparing. </p><p></p><h3>The set piece is for orchestra, but I conduct a harmonica band/sleigh bell quartet/ pop choir...</h3><p>Cool! I can't wait to hear about your sleigh bell quartet!</p><p>If you're not familiar with reading orchestra scores you will still get heaps out of the workshop. The set piece is just an example to highlight techniques you can use for any piece of music.</p><p>Allocating yourself some time with the score before the workshop will help you feel more comfortable. <h1>General FAQ</h1><h3></h3><h3>Who is it for?</h3><p>Any current or aspiring conductor wishing to lead more productive, fun, meaningful, musical rehearsals. Whether you're teaching in person or online, these workshops will work for you!</p><h3></h3><h3>What if I'm not conducting anywhere right now?</h3><p>The workshops cover universal concepts and skills that you can use any time, for any ensemble now or in the future. </p><p>You will get just as much out of these workshops if you're not currently conducting a group. You can still practice many of the techniques and approaches by yourself, with smaller ensembles, or use them in private/studio teaching.</p><h3></h3><h3>I conduct a bush band/recorder ensemble/ukulele collective/jazz otomatone octet. Is this for me?</h3><p><strong>Do you lead or run the rehearsals (solving musical problems) of your group?  </strong>Then YES, Rehearsal Planning and Technique days are for you. </p><p><strong>Do you use any kind of movement or physical gesture to lead your group? Do you want to go beyond nuts &amp; bolts to helping your group be expressive?  </strong>Then YES, Expressive Conducting Toolkit is for you. </p><p><strong>Do you lead a team of people (like an ensemble, a group of students, staff, department or committee)? </strong>Then YES, The Effective Musical Leader is for you.</p><h3></h3><h3>Do I need to attend all 4 workshops?</h3><p>No. Each workshop is stand alone. You can come to as many or few as meet your needs.</p><p></p><h3>Can I get a PD Certificate?</h3><p>PD certificates can be supplied upon request after the workshop/s for the number of hours attended.</p><h3></h3><h3>Is there a discount for attending more than one workshop?</h3><p>Yes. One session is $59. </p><p>Two workshops are $108 (save $10)</p><p>Three workshops are $149 (save $28)</p><p>Four workshops are $199 (save $37)</p><p></p><p>These discounts all show up at the cart when registering. Ensure you choose the correct ticket type for your needs.</p><p></p><h3>If I register for one, then decide to also come to another can I still get the discount?</h3><p>Then you're our kinda person! </p><p>When you register for one or two workshops you'll get a code to get a 10% discount on other workshops if you decide you want MORE awesome professional learning. And let's be honest, who doesn't? </p><p></p><h3>Isn't that discount a bit less than if I sign up for all of them at the start?</h3><p>You're sharp! Yes, it is, because we want to reward you for committing up front and saying 'Hell Yeah, I want to be better!'</p><p></p><h3>I can't make it. Are the sessions recorded?</h3><p>No. These sessions are designed to be participatory and interactive. Wanna know a secret? </p><p><strong>Asking when registrations close is like asking 'Will this be on the test?'</strong></p><p>Choosing to commit to investing in yourself and registering before the deadline is a choice. So is leaving it to the last minute.</p><p>When you register last minute or AFTER the deadline it affects the organisation of the event - like whether it will even go ahead.  </p><p></p><p>Registrations close at 11.59pm AEST on Sunday 27 July. </p><p></p><p><em>Conducting Artistry reserves the right to reschedule/cancel events with less than 5 attendees at the registration closing date. (If this happens ticket holders will be notified immediately and receive a full refund). </em></p>
